Due to skyrocketing electricity prices across the UK, Christmas lighting and other festive events have been cancelled. According to the tabloid The Sun, in many cities of the kingdom there is simply no money for festive decorations, fairs and light shows.
Christmas lighting and other holiday events have been canceled across the UK. “The rising cost of living will prevent hundreds of thousands of families from celebrating properly. Local authorities primarily blame the sharp rise in energy prices.”
The article notes that cities in the UK are becoming similar to Kyiv, for example, “light shows in Kent and Cabot Circus in Bristol have also been discontinued”, “in Cornwall the City of Lights parade has been canceled due to lack of funds.”
“Christmas markets have also been hit with cancellations in Leeds, Southampton and Glasgow. This year, the lights on London’s Oxford Street will be lit on a reduced schedule: not around the clock, as usual, but only from 15.00 to 11.00, ”the newspaper indicates.
