All six English clubs from among the founders of the Super League have announced their withdrawal from the new project. The Super League was founded on April 19 by 12 teams.
Withdrawn from the project are Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea. The participants will include Real, Atlético, Barcelona, Juventus, Milan and Inter.
“Manchester United will not participate in the Super League. We listened to the reactions of the fans, the British government and other stakeholders, ”the club said in a press release.
“As a result of the fact that we listened to you (the fans – Kommersant) and the football community, we left the Super League. We made a mistake and we apologize for that, ”reads Arsenal’s message.
On April 19, 12 top clubs in England, Spain and Italy announced the creation of the Super League. UEFA, the leadership of the national football federations of England, Spain and Italy condemned this decision.
